How To Play

Welcome to the 2017 Formula 1 Fantasy League

Please read through the detailed information below for full instructions on how to play the game and score points.

Team Selection

Once you have registered you will need to select your Formula 1 Fantasy Team.

All team management decisions such as team transfers and choosing your Drivers and Constructors (e.g. Ferrari, McLaren, etc.) occur on the Team page (not available while a Round is in progress).

Follow our simple on-screen instructions to select your team which can then be freely modified right up until the competition starts.

Your team will be made up of the following:

6 x Drivers
2 x Constructors

You can make a max of 2 selections from any one team e.g. you can select the 2 drivers from Ferrari, or 1 Ferrari driver and Ferrari itself as one of your constructors.

You must select a full team of 6 Drivers and 2 Constructors within the available budget before you can save your team.

You must also nominate a captain who scores double points.

Budget
You have a limited budget of 200 credits to start with. Spend it wisely! All Drivers and Constructors vary in price and your final team selection must be within your allocated budget. Note that the prices of Drivers and Constructors will fluctuate during the season depending on performance, popularity and bang-for-buck. This means that your total available budget could go up or down.

Budget values will change after every third round. So this means after round 3, then after round 6, etc.

Examples:

  • Your selected Driver places 4th on the grid in the qualifying session and ends up winning the actual race. You would earn 17 points for the qualifying and 30 points for the finishing position, therefore a total of 47 points.

  • You earn points for both cars that your selected Constructor has in a race. If your selected Constructors are Red Bull and Ferrari, and Red Bull finishes the race in 3rd and 7th position and Ferrari finishes the race, in 2nd and 4th position, you would earn 44 points from Red Bull and 48 points from Ferrari.

Note
Penalties for driver infringements will be taken into consideration. So, if a driver qualifies in second place, but gets a 5-place grid penalty, his qualifying points position will be 7 with 14 points.

Note
A Driver needs to complete the full number of laps to get full completion points - i.e. not get lapped.

15

Both cars finish the race
30

Fastest Lap

For example: You earn points for both cars that your selected Constructor has in a race. Therefore if you select Ferrari and both Ferrari cars finish the race, you would earn 30 bonus points.

Note
Constructors get completion points if their car gets an official final position in the race.

The judges' decision on scoring is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Transfers

You have a limited allocation of 25 transfers for the whole tournament.

You can make unlimited transfers to your team before the tournament starts.

Transfers allowed per round: 3

Each time you transfer players in and out and press the Save Changes button your total transfer allocation will be reduced. So be sure to choose carefully as all changes are final and cannot be reversed.

Transfers are carried out on the Manage Team page. Team management is not available once the round locks out and for the initial stages of the round.

The Home page shows your current team that is active for the current round.

You can make transfers on the Manage Team page for an upcoming round while a current round is in progress. These changes will only be reflected on the Home page once the new round starts.

Note that the Lockout for the start of a new Round is at the start of the first qualifying race in the new Round. So you must finalise your team before the start of a new Round. Be sure to choose carefully as all changes are final and cannot be reversed.

Changing your captain within your existing team does not count towards your available transfers.

See the Rounds page for the full schedule of the Formula 1 Fantasy League.

Leagues

In addition to the overall competition, you can set up one or many Private Leagues where you can invite your friends, family and colleagues to compete against you. The option to set up a Private League can be accessed from the My Leagues page, once you are logged in. You can choose to send an automatic email to your friends by entering their email addresses online, or alternatively you can forward your Private League code to them.

An additional feature in the Leagues area is a message board which you can use to communicate with other team managers in your League by posting comments. You can also upload your own personalised team photo or icon as well as a logo for your league. The League Administrator has the functionality to delete uninvited teams or inappropriate comments.

  • You are automatically entered in the Global League which includes all the registered teams playing in the overall competition.
  • The Global League lists the Top 500 teams.
  • The Round League lists the Top 500 teams for the current round.

Team Supported Leagues
You will be automatically entered into a league with other fans of the team you support when you fill in the Team Supported field on the Profile page.

King of Leagues
This is where our top-performing league groups battle it out to see who's got the most skilled group of fantasy managers. Any league with a minimum of 5 members is automatically entered into this league. The average total score of the managers in the league is used to determine the King of Leagues ranking.
